I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a background in elementary education. I have always had a passion for working with children, providing support academically, socially, and emotionally. Through my time in the classroom, I have seen a great need for more in-depth therapeutic approaches when interacting with students and their families. With a master’s in education, I decided to pursue my masters in clinical psychology and enrich my knowledge of child development, attachment, and family systems. Year after year, I see children arrive to school unavailable to learn, due to lacking appropriate skills to communicate needs and feelings.
With more than 15 years of teaching experience, several years coaching, and raising three children of my own, I offer a unique approach to counseling. With a dual professional competency, I bring a wide range of skills to my therapeutic interactions. I understand the need to incorporate multiple learning styles in therapy sessions, allowing every individual access to positive change. I believe in the importance of creating a consistent, supportive environment and developing strong relationships. Working with children of all ages, I strive to include parents in the therapy process. Discussing challenges and changes as a team allows for greater success and healthier long-term outcomes.
My professional and personal life experiences support my ability to also work with women of all ages. Being a mother and wife, while holding two careers, complements my understanding of transitional challenges that women face. I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals to define and set goals that develop a balance in life.
I find my life balance spending time with my three children, husband, and extended family. We enjoy being outdoors and enjoying the simple joys of life.
