Life is challenging.  It’s a journey filled with continuous highs and lows.  Navigating the journey is often filled with excitement, anticipation, stress, exhaustion, and countless other emotions.  Regulating those emotions to maintain a healthy quality of life is a task.  It’s a task people must work though along with all the additional responsibilities for which people are accountable.  Utilizing available resources to better manage your life is vital to achieving the type of happiness you desire.   Professional counseling is a viable avenue to begin the process of managing a better more holistic well balanced life.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I strive to break the cliché often associated with the concept of counseling therapy.  Often I get the idea there is a misperception regarding the type of services professional counseling provides.  My approach is simplistic in nature, but very effective if a client truly covets change in his or her life.  I break through the stigmas associated with the concept of attending counseling.  I am a human being just like every other individual on this Earth.  I have made mistakes, am not  perfect, and know what it’s like to face adversity along the journey of life.  I also know how to break the negative cycle to overcome adversity when life becomes challenging.  My approach focuses on a non-judgmental client strength centered application.  I create a sense of empowerment within my clients through careful analytical assessment of his or her life.  I seek to locate hidden strengths within my clients to aid with constructing confidence.  My sessions focus on quality in-depth discourse to unravel the emotional knot that continuously binds my client’s well-being.  I am presented with complex issues of which I try to simply for my client’s to gain clarity regarding their challenges.  Additionally, I understand the difficulties life regularly presents during a time of transition.

Transitional periods in life are taxing.  I am familiar with this process.  Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor I spent years navigating the world of academia as an undergraduate student.  Post undergraduate work I spent some time working with a local building trade as a Union Sprinklerfitter.  My life always seemed to be taking unexpected turns.  I often found myself outside of my comfort zone.  The alterations to my life demanded I take some risks with the anticipation of modifying elements of my life for the better.  The risks I took created some nervousness and apprehensions as I had a family to think about and a responsibility to them as well.  Choosing to pursue a licensure as a Professional Counselor and taking my life in a different direction has been rewarding.  My work as a Professional Counselor solidifies the decision I made.

I want to encourage anyone who is approaching a transitional period in his or her life to reach out.  If you feel a deep sense of uncertainty in your decisions regarding your future you are not alone. If you are continuously experiencing setbacks or feel like you struggle to control anxiety please know you have options.  Do you struggle with relationships or always feel hesitant to try something new outside of your comfort zone?  If you are unclear as to what direction you want your life to go, or if you question your ability to navigate certain paths due to an intrapersonal or interpersonal struggle; know you have resources available to help you regain control and purpose in your life.  Initiating the first step is often the most difficult, but the risk is worth the reward.
